I first went to see Cherie to see what could be done about my acne breakouts and scarring.
My skin used to be oily, with enlarged pores and uneven skin tone - as well as scarring from past breakouts. I would have a new breakout nearly every day, each blemish taking between 3 and 5 days to heal, but staying beneath the skin and recurring later on.
In the first session she suggested we treat the problem aggressively, applying a strong glycolic acid mask to remove the surface layers of dead skin, which would help my skin to function better and promote faster cell turnover. She then performed the microdermabrasion on a medium setting, suggesting 3-5 more treatments at fortnightly intervals, depending on the results.
My first microdermabrasion treatment felt like an intensive exfoliation treatment, the outer layers of my skin being removed with abrasive crystals.
Afterwards I noticed that my skin felt the cleanest it has ever been, much smoother and even some of the light acne scarring had disappeared. The blemishes started to go away much quicker, with little to no redness after they had healed.
By the next session 2 weeks later, I noticed my pores were reducing in size, I was having very few breakouts, and if I did have a blemish it disappeared quickly and without scarring or redness.
By the third session, my skin tone was nearly totally even, having maybe 2 blemishes in the 2 weeks between treatments, which healed very quickly.
Cherie has suggested 3 more microdermabrasion treatments and also IPL.
I found her to be professional and knowledgeable. She explained exactly what she was doing and how this would affect my skin in the short and long term. She told me what my skin had been doing, what caused the breakouts and how the treatments would help with my skin problems.
I would recommend her to anyone suffering from acne, dull or uneven skin tone, and oily or ageing skin.
